Tadasana in your Asana

Feb 18 – 22nd, 2019

Tadasana in Your Asana is an investigation on how to have the purest alignment in your yoga poses. Using Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and Savasana (Corpse Pose) as guidelines to find the sweet spot of structure, and ease throughout your yoga practice. Vinyasa classes are open to all levels and will incorporate the idea of finding the neutrality of joints in various shapes (asanas). Mini-workshops called Tadasana in Your Asana will allow students to address their issues that may be causing repetitive motion injuries, pain, confusion within the body, or even explore what may be preventing mastery of a pose and shed light on creating an easeful, functional asana practice for each individual. Each student will get a one-on-one Postural Analysis and have the opportunity to discuss personal physical blocks within their practice. Hands-on Structural Therapy will be available for an extra cost ($80/hr). This retreat can accommodate up to 10 people so there will be much individualized attention for those who attend.

About Shila

Shila Tirabassi LaGrua began teaching yoga after graduating from The Juilliard School to supplement her income as an internationally touring modern dancer. She received her Yoga Teacher training in 2004 from Cyndi Lee at OM Yoga Center in New York where she later taught for many years and developed the Core Yoga program. Shila has also completed trainings in Restorative Yoga, Pilates, Thai Yoga Massage, Pre-natal fitness, Personal Training, and Massage Therapy, to name a few. Her interest in the body led her to study a groundbreaking form of bodywork called Neurosomatic Therapy developed by Paul St. John. She quickly became a Senior Therapist at the St. John–Clark Pain Treatment Center in Clearwater, FL where she had a successful practice for 5 years. She now owns her own practice, called Body Center St. Pete, where she integrates Neurosomatic Therapy with functional movement derived from Pilates, Yoga, and the Schroth Method (for scoliosis). Shila teaches anatomy for Yoga Teacher trainings across the country, and has developed a curriculum for Therapeutic Exercise where she is currently on the faculty at The Center for Neurosomatic Studies. She loves to blend all her disciplines into her practice to educate her clients on how to be in balance through functional movement and self-care.
